In cooperation with the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin and the Wigmore Hall in London, the Heidelberger Frühling will present two projects in 2019. Auditions for both projects will take place on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at Wigmore Hall as well as Thursday November 8, 2018 at Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin.

1. Heidelberg Lied Academy 2019
From March 18th to March 26th 2019, the festival is awarding scholarships for its 9th Lied Academy. Mentors include Thomas Hampson and Hartmut Höll. The scholarship covers participation in masterclasses, lunchtime concerts, accommodation and board as well as a travel subsidiary.

2. A week dedicated to Schubert, curated by Thomas Hampson, at Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin from January 22nd to January 27th 2019

In his role as artistic director of the Heidelberg Lied Academy, Thomas Hampson has been asked to curate a week dedicated to Schubert at Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal. Selected singers will have the opportunity to perform in public and private masterclasses as well as in a concert at the hall. Mentors include Thomas Hampson and Hartmut Höll. The invitation covers accommodation, coaching, the concert as well as a travel subsidiary.

Interested singers (Age limit: 32 years) are invited to apply via email by October 10th 2018, providing the following information:

Name, age, nationality, voice type, place of residence
CV (written text, 1400 characters incl. spaces)

Repertoire:

  • 1 song by Franz Schubert (can be part of a cycle)
  • 1 song by Robert Schumann’s “Liederkreis” op.39
  • 1 song of own choice

It might be necessary to pre-select singers, therefore we ask for an video file of a song by Franz Schubert. This video file HAS TO BE SENT online (download-link via WeTransfer, Dropbox,…)

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. A successful application will be confirmed via email. Confirmations and schedule for the selected singers will be sent out no later than October 19th 2018. The audition is free of charge, unfortunately we cannot refund travel expenses.

Participants will be asked to bring their own pianist, although a pianist is available upon request.

The audition on November 7th will take place in the Gerald Moore Room of the Wigmore Hall from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
The audition on 8 November will take place in the Mozart Hall of the Barenboim Said Academy from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
