Verboten und Verbannt

Forgotten and Banned

From the Salzburg Festival 2005

A multi-layer project featuring the stories and musical works of composers whom the National Socialists had banned, outlawed, drove into exile and in some cases even murdered.

This project engages on a political level with one of the darkest chapters in human history and aims to show that art is ultimately more powerful than evil and brute force.

An Introduction to “Forgotten Composers – Forgotten Music”

Art is not just entertainment, it holds up a mirror to our souls...What does it mean when we deny works of art? What does that say about us?
