Explore song projects from Thomas Hampson and the Hampsong Foundation!
In this section, you will find a wide array of various projects of the Hampsong Foundation, some of which began as personal projects of baritone Thomas Hampson: from large-scale, multi-faceted projects such as Song of America and Singers on Singing: Great Artists in Conversation, to smaller, focused projects of limited scope, like Berlioz, Wagner, and Liszt: Romantic Songs and Schumann and Heine.
You can find information about annual endeavors, like the Heidelberg Lied Academy, as well as annual awards in collaboration with other organizations, like the Thomas Hampson Fund of the American Musicological Society and the Hampsong Education Fellowship in American Song (with the Society for American Music).
Our projects cover a wide range of historical and musical topics, and all of them connect classic song—poetry set to music—with a larger cultural context, telling the story of a time, place, and people.
Each project is a conglomeration of different resources, often featuring audio and video resources, texts (often including essays and translations), PDFs of concert programs—inspiration for students, singers, educators, and song enthusiasts.
